On The Road Again (SIWAS DT Reveal)

I bet that most of you have sang the chorus of this song at one point or another, driving in your car!  ha!

Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" is the next track on this month's Scrap It with a Song playlist.

To see what my fellow Rock Chicks created inspired by this infamous song and to find out how you can play along, visit SIWAS right now!

For my layout, i used some very special pictures of my cousin Stephanie and her husband Daniel while they were driving cross-country from New Brunswick to British Columbia back in the Summer of 2009.  They created a blog and documented their entire trip for their family and friends with numerous pictures from one camp site to another and from province to province, all across Canada.  What a spectacular and memorable experience this trip was for them, and i am happy to document a little piece of it for them in my own way.
You will have probably recognized the Ad Lib collection from BoBunny.  What a fun colorful line that was (and still is)!  Can you believe that i had it in my stash since its reveal almost 2 years ago and had never used it?!  It was about time! :)

Have you gone on any special roadtrip this Summer???  If so, make sure to scrapbook your photos using this week's inspiration at Scrap It with a Song!

Scrap It With a Song "500 Miles"

Just a quickie to share with you the 3rd Track on the Scrap It with a Song playlist for August.  Make sure to visit the SIWAS blog to see the Pop Gals's DT reveal and learn how to participate.

Inspiration this week comes from The Procclaimers's "500 Miles"
What a catchy tune!  Every time i hear this song, i cannot help but sing along to it, as loud as i can.  It just the perfect Happy Go Lucky song, and the lyrics would look so nice on a layout.  I didn't have time to play along with the Pop Gals this week, but i am definitely adding this to my 'To Scrapbook' list! :)

Just You (SIWAS DT Reveal & CS Sketch)

Today is my first DT reveal as a Rock Chick for the Scrap It With a Song challenge blog!

As mentioned last week, the theme for the playlist this month is Travel.  However, you do not have to create a travel-theme project.  You could base your project on just a specific lyric from the song or the title or a feeling or memory you have while listening to it.  Just make sure to explain, if need be, in your blog post what inspired you.  And click HERE to link up your project before August 31st for a chance to be a Guest Designer for October, and to see what the other Rock Chicks have created.

Personally i love Chantal Kreviazuk's version as who could ever forget that famous scene from Armageddon with Ben Affleck singing to Liv Tyler?!  Soooo sweet!

I didn't have any pictures of a jet plane to scrapbook so i decided to take this part of the lyrics and create yet another love-themed layout for MY Ben Affleck - hehehe

"Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you"

My layout was based on Sketch #220 from Creative Scrappers:
The paper i used is from the Merry January collection by We R Memory Keepers.  I was saving it for a future Winter or Christmas layout but i felt that it was just perfect for this layout.  I felt like going dark and grungy!

All the chipboard pieces, including this beautiful title, is from Imaginarium Designs.  I love ID chipboard, but since my LSS doesn't carry it and i can't order online too much, i don't have many pieces.  I was fortunate enough to win a few packs from their website though and i am super excited to be able to use them on my projects.  I distressed the chippies by covering them with gesso, heating it up, then layers different shades of distress ink and glimmer mist until i reached the colors wanted.
This was my first real attempt at grunge.  So what do you think?
Which style fits me best: shabby & chic, dark & grungy or bright & fun?

And don't forget to join us this month at Scrap It With a Song!

Man (SOE kit & My Creative Sketches)

This is my 2nd post today.  For my special announcement regarding the Scrap It With A Song DT and challenge, click HERE!

In this post, i want to share another project created with the fabulous August kit "Summer Haven" by Scraps of Elegance for which i am the Guest Designer this month.

This layout is simply called "Man" and it features the most special man in my life... Yves :)

I used the beautiful July sketch from My Creative Sketches as inspiration.

If you have never played along with My Creative Sketches challenge, i strongly urge you to do so!
Look at the absolutely amazing price that is up for grabs:
I am literally drooling right here!  All these fabulous products are SO me!

Here are close-up shots of my layout:

I enjoyed so much working with a monochromatic style on this layout.  I have been admiring other designers' clean white backgrounds for a while, and was never really able to achieve the same effect whenever i tried in the past.  I am very happy with this one though!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Scrap It With a Song "Go Your Own Way"

Sorry that this is a bit late in the making (the official announcement went live this past Wednesday!), but i am super excited to announce that for the next 6 months, i will be a Rock Chick for the Scrap It With A Song challenge blog DT!!!

Every Thursday of each month, Scrap It With A Song provides you with the best kind of inspiration... MUSIC!  The first song on the challenge playlist this month is "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac (definitely a favorite classic of mine) to start off a whole month of travel-themed songs.

Make sure to click HERE to see what the Pop Gals created inspired by this song and to find out how to link up your take on this challenge by August 30th for your chance to be a guest designer with us in October!

Stay tuned next Thursday because along with the rest of the Rock Chicks, i will be sharing a layout inspired by Track #2 of our August playlist!

Guest Designer for Scraps of Elegance

I am SO happy to finally be able to announce that i have been asked to be the Guest Designer this month for the fabulous Scraps of Elegance Kit Club!!!  Click HERE for the official announcement on the SOE blog!

Here is the fabulous kit, called Summer Haven, with which i will be making and sharing projects throughout the month.
Included are some gorgeous papers from Fabscrap's Organic Line, Kaisercraft's The Lake House Collection, and Teresa Collins' Sweet Afternoon Line, and fabulous embellishments from Fabscraps, Kaisercraft, Teresa Collins, Prima, Reneabouquet's hand crafted butterflies, My Mind's Eye, and Creative Impressions.   For a full list of kit ingredients and to find out how you can order this kit, visit the Scraps of Elegance website right now!

The kit comes with a beautiful sketch by Suepup which has inspired the layout i am sharing with you today:
When i first laid eyes on the Summer Haven kit, my first thought was WEDDING!   And since i don't have wedding pictures of my own (as we didn't do the deed yet! hehe), i decided to scrap this beautiful picture of my friend Nathalie and her husband Alain on their special day.

Now, how gorgeous are these colors?!?!

Make sure to visit the Scraps of Elegance blog today and all month to see all the beautiful projects created with this kit by their talented DT and, of course, their August guest, ME! :)

I will be sharing another "Summer Haven" layout with you tomorrow!
