Hello Beautiful Card Set
(Scraps of Elegance DT - 'Hello Beautiful' kit)

After creating 3 layouts with the Scraps of Elegance
March 'Hello Beautiful' kit, I had more than enough leftover
products to create these 3 very elegant cards with a very vintage feel.

All my cards were mounted on ivory card stock and even though I didn't
take pictures of the insides, they are fully decorated in and out.

I made great use of the numerous chipboard shapes and tags
from the Graphic45 'Portrait of a Lady' collection.

All these beautiful portraits showing vintage sophisticated ladies
were just perfect for these cards.

The main kit as well as the floral add-on combined hold so many flowers
that even after 3 layouts and 3 cards, I still have some left!

I love how my 3 cards turned out, but I have to say that this last one is my favorite.
That chipboard artisan shape with beautiful rose pattern is so pretty
and was the perfect frame for the lady image.

Included in the main kit is this pretty pearly tulle trim that I adore!

It was a pleasure for me to create with this fabulous kit and showcase its contents this month!

Those Blue Eyes
(CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration Major Case File No. 228)

I am excited to have been able to solve not one but two case files
this month from the CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration challenge blog!

This is Case File No. 228 that was the main inspiration for my layout.
Click HERE to find out all you need to know about this fun challenge!

I was immediately attracted to the Scene of this Case File.
What a lovely living room decor!

The Scheme held so many of my favorite colours:
teal, blue, green and even though it was definitely a challenge
to try to get the right shades, I think I did a pretty good job!

I incorporated many clues from the Evidence list: a solid grey background, chevrons (going vertical on the grey and white patterned paper and on a brad), arabesque shape with the chipboard, flowers, embossing folders (I used 2 - polkadots on the alphas spelling 'blue' and leaves to create the white cardstock leaves), silver metal (several brad edges) and puffy stickers (white Thickers).

My Testimony consisted of 2 clues: writing about
my husband's beautiful blue eyes on an artisan-shaped label.

I am super pleased with how I solved this case
and am hoping that you enjoy my layout as well.

Until the next creative crime-solving challenge!

This Is Me
(Scraps of Elegance DT - 'Hello Beautiful' Kit)

I'm back today to share with you one more project
showcasing the March Scraps of Elegance 'Hello Beautiful' kit.

You probably have noticed that I do a lot of paper ripping lately on my layouts.
I love the look of it and how it allows me to feature several different patterned papers
on my pages. This time, along with paper from the kit, I also used corrugated
cardboard and white cardstock from my own stash.

This quote shows up many times in the Graphic45 collection which is included in the SOE kit.
It is so beautiful and I thought that it would be very fitting for a layout about me.

I used the rose stamps in the Heidi Swap set on white cardstock and fussy cut around
the image to then slip the stamped pieces in and about my flower clusters.

This is me, a couple years back, 'au naturel' as they say, during a nice stroll
in a wooded park of my hometown.

Here is one again the 'Hello Beautiful' kit and the add-ons with which I created this month:

Be Free Tag
(More Than Words DT - April Mini Challenge)

It's Mini Challenge time once again at More Than Words!

The mini word for the April challenge is FREE.

Click HERE to find out all you need to know about the Mini Challenge!
You will also be inspired by numerous beautiful DT projects
using the word FREE.  You have until April 30th to share with us
your card, tag or ATC on the Facebook More Than Words page.

I decided to follow the April Main Challenge creative challenge of Black/White +1
for my mini project, using a very bold colour palette by adding orange to the mix.
I was worried that my tag would be a bit too Halloween-y, but it turned out pretty well.

I added texture with glitter glass.

Some orange mist, twine and a big orange bow, and my tag was done!

Thank you for dropping by!!

Grin Full of Mischief
(ScrapBerry's DT & Berry71bleu April Challenge)

I decided to veer away from my usual shabby and romantic style to go grunge
and create a very boyish page using one of my very favorite
paper collections from ScrapBerry's called Edge of Town!

Not only are these papers absolutely gorgeous, they also seemed perfect for
the April mood board on the Berry71bleu challenge blog.  The mood board
inspired my use of the rusty, woodgrain, brick patterns and the metal accents.
Click HERE to find out more about the Berry71bleu challenge.

I covered my chipboard and wood icons with black sand embossing
powder to give them an old metallic effect to match the papers.

Below you can see a few ScrapBerry's embellishments that I found in my stash
that fit in well with my page: a vintage unicycle metal trinket from
the Vintage Circus set as well as epoxy dark orange epoxy stickers
from the Around the World collection.  It goes to show how versatile
ScrapBerry's embellishments are that you can mix and match
products from different lines for a single page.

Here is a close-up of these fabulous patterned papers!

And the star of my page is baby Tristan, my friend's son, from a few years back!

I am thrilled on how my layout turned out, and that is thanks
to Berry71bleu inspiration and ScrapBerry's Edge of Town collection!

I would love to hear what you think!

Livin' the Sweet & Good Life
(CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration Major Case File No. 227)

Every month, I have a very extended list of different challenges in which
I would love to participate if I can gather enough time, and every
month CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration ends up on top of my list!
Their challenges, aka case files, are always so inspiring and their whole
concept is fabulous.  I don't always get the chance to play but this time around,
I knew I couldn't pass it up.  Who doesn't like a good mystery to solve,
especially when it involves some papers, scissors, embellishments... and CATS?  ;)

Here is Major Case File No. 227:

The first clue that caught my eye was indeed the Scene with that pretty image of a lady with her cats. Having a cat myself, I have quite a few cat photos to scrap so that was quite an easy clue to solve.

Major Case Files always includes a very 'nifty' sketch by The Nifty Pixel.

The Scheme took me out of my comfort zone a bit, but I think I was able to pull it off quite well.
I found some very old striped paper from Basic Grey in my stash that basically incorporated
all the colors in the palette, and I then proceeded to find other papers and embellishments to match.

I was able to produce several clues from the Evidence list.  As already mentioned above,
I started off with some striped paper and then I found Sugar the cat (animal), lots of
flowers, some metal brads, wooden circle shapes (2 in one) as well as wooden
flowers and hearts, other circular elements are flair buttons, brads and doodled
circles on the background, a little watercolour effect on the background and tags
using mist and water, and some burlap covered blooms (fabric).
8 clues total... not bad at all!

The Testimony is always more of a struggle for me as I don't often journal on my pages.
I do love the concept of telling a story when scrapbooking though and so it is
a challenge I always love to take.  I was inspired by the 'humor prompt' option
although I didn't really use any particular prompt listed.  I did find a funny quote online
that I found summed up my page pretty well and I added my own handwritten take on it.
Sugar the cat sure is living the life of a goddess in our home... although she would beg
to differ just because we do not let her go outside (for her own safety as we live
on a fairly busy street) and we don't feed her as many treats as she'd like.

But she definitely has got us wrapped around her paw, and she darn well knows it!

So what do you think?!  Did I solve the mystery?
Would I have what it takes to become an office CSI Detective?  I think so! :)

Go Fly a Kite... They Said
(Creative Scrappers DT - Sketch #305)

It is reveal day for me at the Creative Scrappers blog and I have a fun
and bright page to share with you based on the April sketch challenge!

This is the fabulous Sketch #305 from Creative Scrappers:

Creative Scrappers' wonderful sponsor this month is The Cut Shoppe
and owner Ashley Horton was so kind as to donate a few cut
files to each DT member.  I chose the fun Go Fly a Kite set
as I had just the pictures to scrap with it!

I decided to have a little fun with the whole theme and title of my page.
Since the kite flying adventure turned out to be a fail,
I decided to still snap pictures of it and fly the kite of imagination instead. :)

I added some stitching to the kite cutouts and got a little messy with sprays and paints.

I am still learning how to use my Silhouette so some of the images
didn't cut as they should have, but I still think they turned out nice.

I decorated my page with several buttons and brads... and more handmade stitching.

And there you go!  I hope you enjoy and that you will take time
to play along with the April sketch challenge at Creative Scrappers.
